Cranberry Harvest

Another classic New England "thing" is the cranberry bogs. Now, I didn't think one could just go and visit a cranberry bog...but, thats where Livingsocial comes in. A few weeks ago they had a deal for a Cranberry festival down near the Cape and naturally I had to go check it out. So on Sunday, Jenny and I went to see what it was all about!
If you have never seen a bog up close - amazing. These little marvels grow in such an amazing way.
We got to watch berries in one bog being cultivated from the plants and floating up to the surface and in another bog they were harvesting them right out of the bog. So amazing.
In addition to the acres and acres of bogs to marvel at, the festival featured a variety of vendors and activities - it was really a fantastic fall event!
The festival was another check on my list of "enjoy fall in New England" to its fullest list and another example of reasons why fall up here is simply the best.

This is so neat! I would love to buy an off the bog bag of cranberries to homemade cranberry sauce. What a neat day trip. Reminds me of the Ocean Spray commercials. :)

Awesome photos! I got to see these red bogs once on a trip. You have to time it just right. We missed it by a week on my last trip. I'm so glad for you that you got to experience the harvest time. Thanks for sharing with us!

Okay, this is just so awesome! I do love fall in Colorado, but New England might just edge us out on this particular season.
