Green on White

Ever since I was little, we've had a potted amaryllis during the winter. I remember being in awe of how tall they grow before blossoming. It was also such a lovely pop of color in the midst of the cold winter. 
When I planted this amaryllis 23 days ago, I never imagined it would be the bright, living contrast against the snowy world I now reside in. 
Last week, we celebrated Tu B'shevat, the recognition that in Israel spring is beginning and the trees will soon produce flowers and fruits. Today, I celebrate my amaryllis and the promise that spring will eventually show up in Boston.

    There can't be any place in the US more anxious for Spring that you folks in Boston. What a winter. Your flower looks like it's just about to open.

    It's always nice to have some living greenery during the harsh winter months! How fun to watch it grow! We've given them out to teachers over the years. I need to get one for us some time!

    oh oh Tamar, I love amaryllis! These snaps are a "hope" alright. Too bad you have sooooo much snow.
    Your fingernail preference is similar to my Mom's. She always claimed she felt 'smothered' with fingernail polish on. lol

    AND...the truck left Fenway for spring training today!! These pics are very pretty! I keep telling myself I need some plants in the house - just haven't gotten around to it yet. Did get some beautiful yellow roses (my faves) tonight from the hubs - that'll do for a bit! ENJOY your trip! Say hi to beautiful Oregon for me!! So glad you're flying on the ONE DAY without a storm!!

    They are beautiful aren't they? Here we can plant them outside in the soil and they bloom late summer early autumn.

    I love any bulb that blooms in winter. It does help us hang on for better days ahead. A simple flower can really cheer! Wishing you a break from the white wall of winter.
