Horsing Around

The B and B last weekend while in Vermont was across from a 40 acre horse farm. The Sunday we were there they were hosting a Cowboy Mounted Shooting event which meant there were even more horses to enjoy that weekend, including two penned at the actual B and B!
Sunday we ventured across to the event and it was pretty wicked to see! There are ten balloons and the rider must run through the course, shooting the balloons (with fancy blanks) and try to get through quickly. Harder than it looks.
We wandered around the stables too getting a look at the other horses. They were all so gentle and would let us pet them and talk to them. Such majestic creatures.
It was like being in the wild west for a bit more than Vermont but a very fun event to get to watch!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

  4. Nice Post, Tamar!!! I missed the whole loving horses thing growing up. Made up for it as an adult when, surprisingly, found myself spending a lot of time at Laurel Thoroughbred Racetrack walking the horses to cool them down after their workouts aka "walking hots."

  5. Fun pics! I loved horses as a child, then my love for them died a bit. When I went off to college my dad remarried and bought a horse farm - I told him he was a bit late on that one! Now I have two daughters that are horse crazy, and my dad has sold the horse farm. The timing has just never been right! : )

  19. Wonderful shots-that close up of the horse's eye with the reflection in it is stunning. When I lived in the Midwest, it was one of the hardest things to get across to the kids that this *was* part of the wild west and the first people that settled here were leaving their country to come out and settle the places.

  20. Great shots of the mounted shooters!!
This is something my Hubby wants to do with his mare, Ruby. One day. Right now, she's a little freaked out by gun shots. It'll come though, with time, training and patience. ;)
Also love the photo of the horses eye. Beautiful!
