Chihuly in the Garden

All made of glass
All made of glass...

Yes, we're all made of glass
all made of glass...

The NYBG has had a feature exhibit all summer called "Chihuly in the Garden." They installed several amazing glass pieces around the garden for visitors to enjoy.

We went Saturday to see them at a special "night" viewing time. Wow. Just wow.

I've always been a huge Chihuly fan, but to see them at night set among the flowers and natural scenes was just spectacular. What Dale Chihuly can with glass is just spectacular.

This for sure is one of my favorite exhibits that I've seen in my ten years of visiting the gardens!

  2. I saw his work on display at a botanical garden in Phoenix a few years ago. It was jaw-droopingly gorgeous! I can't even imagine how stunning it would be at night lit up. Your pics captured his work beautifully. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Wow, that is amazing! We considered going to see the display that was in Atlanta, but decided it was too pricey.

  7. I'm going to NYC in a few weeks for just a day and I was considering seeing the Chihully exhibit. I saw it when it was in Atlanta and loved it, so I know I will love seeing his work in NYC. Thanks for sharing your images from your visit. Now I'm even more excited about seeing the exhibit than I already was! :)

  8. So beautiful and different than the exhibit we had in Atlanta last year. I saw his collection in Seattle back in March. Such fun pieces!

  9. I've loved Chihuly's works for many years and enjoyed seeing a similar exhibit here in Denver Botanic a few years ago and his museum in Seattle.

  11. These are gorgeous - I love the contrast with the black. I've seen some of his work in Seattle, but the one time we planned on going to the large display near the Space Needle, it was closed for a private event.

  13. These are so cool! We have 1 Chihuly piece that hangs in one of the buildings on Whitman campus. I need to photograph it sometime. I'd love to see an entire exhibit.
