Massive Scale

The MFA has been bringing in some amazing exhibitions lately. The latest is called "Abstraction on a Massive Scale" and simply features two massive works.
One, the largest painting Jackson Pollock ever made. Entitled Mural it features swirling brush strokes and was the beginning of his well-known drip technique.

His piece is set against Katharina Grosse's large scale colorful work. Created with fabric pieces and spraypaint it hangs from the ceiling and onto the ground.

Both works are different, yet the same. They complement each other, in a massive, abstract way!

  4. Very cool I recently saw a Pollack painting in the same room as another one that was painted on canvas but not stretched. Instead, it was hanging like a curtain with scrolling flourishes.
