Strata Center

I have wanted to explore the MIT campus for a while now. I heard and saw pictures of all the amazingly designed buildings. A few weeks ago, 52 Frames' theme was 'architecture' and I knew I had to get over to the Stata Center to take pics.
The Stata Center was designed by Frank Gehry in 2004. It's a pretty wacky building, almost like one of those "this is because of common core math" memes. It has received mixed praise and criticism since it was built and apparently has had some structural issues.

No matter what, it's one neat building to me!

  2. Oh wow, Tamar, what a cool building! And these images really capture the unique angles. Your meme reference gave me a good chuckle. I am curious about the structural issues now and must go look it up! Thanks for sharing.

  6. We visited this the last time we were in Boston. My husband (the architect) loved it. It was probably his favorite part of the whole trip!

  7. It makes me feel queasy just looking at the photos, so I guess I will stay away.

  13. I will say it again - you always find the coolest things to photograph and write about! I've never seen these before...and while it's too bad they have structural issues, they're quite interesting to see!
