Great Pumpkin Weekend

The NYBG put on a pumpkin palooza this year! 
Plenty of pumpkins and hoards of gourds. 
Some of the giant pumpkins tipped the scale at 2000+ pounds!
We learned what makes gourds, pumpkins, and other squashes unique and which can be cooked and which are strictly eye candy. It really is amazing the varieties there are and how gorgeous and unique each one is!

    SO many varieties! I don't think I've ever seen so many shapes and colors of gourds all in one place before.

    This is so cool, Tamar! I love pumpkins and gourds and I was just reading recently about the differences between edible and purely decorative ones. So fascinating!

    I love the variety of colours. I've never seen a lot of these types of pumpkins, squash, etc. before.
