I finally made to Williamsburg over the weekend to check out Domino Park. The park opened in 2018 and is a really well-designed space along the East River in the shadow of the former Domino Sugar factory. There are many industrial-esque elements including materials from the old factory and the park has won awards for it's design!
At the northern end of the park, there is an elevated walkway that is meant to resemble the interior of the old refinery. The crane tracks that were used in the original refinery are now garden planters filled with beautiful flowers and bee houses. All wooden structures and chairs in the park were built using reclaimed wood from the refinery. The four giant barrels used to house the syrup used in the refinery!! The fountains are a fav for kids and dogs looking to cool off and there is an amazing playground and volleyball courts. I wish it was a bit easier to get to Williamsburg from White Plains because I would go relax there a ton!
Rustic industrial look
