Portland is Gorges

On Saturday we headed out to the Gorge and Multnomah Falls for an amazing hike.
We started at the base of the falls and then headed up to the top of the falls and over to other falls.
The scenery was amazing, cliff faces, waterfalls, lush greenery. We hiked 1.8 miled up to the top of the  falls, then headed over along the mountain before breaking for an early snack lunch.
We freed Noam from his hiking backpack and he had some fun stretching his little legs while we ate.
He got his hands on Avi's phone and set off to see if he could get a signal (-:
The rest of the hike was even more scenic, if you can believe that. Tons of falls and little brooks to cross. The water was so cold and it felt so refreshing to get close to them!
Noam eventually got tired of being in the backpack and walked the last stretch of the downhill. He of course had to use the walking poles to steady himself. People on the trail got such a kick of this junior hiker!

The hike was such an awesome way to spend a Saturday. Of course, it was the hottest day in the area in 3 years, topping off at 100 in Portland (we haven't hit that in Boston this summer). The mountain was cooler, but were sure were beat by the time we got home!

  9. YAY!!! I'm so glad you went there. One of the most beautiful places & such a great hike to the bridge. Isn't the rush from the water amazing when up on the bridge? I have always wanted to go back & try out my camera there- but thinking of the mist, I'm thinking it might not be good for it.

  12. How crazy is it that two Bostonians (you and me!) are both in Oregon at the same time. I've loved every hike and scenic thing we've done...though I'm in Central Oregon, about 3 hours from Portland. The falls is one of my favorites - hiked it years ago... before I had little hikers of my own!

  13. I would love to visit that area one day and hike the falls as you did. And what a cute toddler - he did great with his walking sticks (those look so useful!).
Love the photos from your two previous posts, too. I've been to the Japanese gardens, but it's been almost 20 years! They are still beautiful.
