If I had a million dollars...
I am happy with what I have. I have a marvelous life. I may not be rolling in "dough," but I am rich in so many other ways.
Tzedakah, charity, is something we are commanded to do as Jews. Even though we might not be rich, we can give a little something to someone who has even less.
I try to drop a few coins into my tzedakah box every day, and know as it fills up I have the chance to give others something, that to them, might seem like a million dollars.

ReplyDeleteYou know, this is it. We've had an "interesting" eight years financially...we left a 20+ year career and had to re-tool...all while kids were finishing highschool and in college. And we adjusted to less. Pretty easily, actually. The hardest thing for me was seeing the "gift budget" get axed! I really do hate not being able to give... whether it's gifts or charities... it just kills me. We've gotten to a point where there's much less pressure...so I've been able to start giving to some favorite local groups...just a little, but it's so good to sharing my pennies!
