Song-osity: School's OUT!

No more pencils no more books...
Schools out for summer!!

"School's Out" - by Alice Cooper

Holy moly. I can't believe it, but as of 12 pm Tuesday the kids are on summer vacation! Come Thursday at 4:30, I will be too!

What a year. What a whirlwind, crazy, amazing, awesome, and busy year.

To think that a year ago I was saying good-bye to KSA and anxious about a new beginning at Maimo. Today I am saying good-bye to 40 amazing kiddos and packing my room up for next year. So grateful to be returning to a school I love teaching in.

It still amazes me that I taught 40 (40!!) students this year.
The amount they learned, the amount I taught them...hard to fathom.

Watching each section talk to the second graders about what to expect when they come to school next year was adorable. They owned everything I taught them. It was so special to me to see what stuck with them.

This year was an amazing year in many ways. It was my 3rd year of teaching on my own, but in a whole new situation. I grew so much as a teacher this year, I continued to find the best ways to teach; I made changes to the curriculum to fit my teaching style and my student's learning needs.

We laughed, we worked hard, I only stressed a little, but we all had an amazing year. Seeing parents as the year wound down was so great. So many "thank you's" and "s/he had a great year" and so many "we can't wait to have you next year's," too.

Now, it's summer time! I have a bunch to accomplish this summer so my curriculum is ready for the fall, because yes, it's never perfect!

First step, no more 5am alarms!!
And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

That song is always running through my head on the last day of school! I can't believe you had 40 kids to teach! Love all the photos from class..A to Z Mysteries reader in the crate is my favorite. I remember my kids reading those books but sadly not in crates! :) Have a fabulous summer, you've earned it!

Yay for a break and for the sense of accomplishment! My classroom size is much smaller than yours, but I understand that feeling of "wow...we learned a lot!" and also needing time to plan for the next year.

What teaching lacks financially it makes up in so many other ways - growing, touching lives, seeing results, summer breaks. I'm sure more money would be appreciated (my mom was a teacher) - but it is not without its rewards.

Enjoy the break - and Alice Cooper's song was made for this day. That and "schools out, schools out, teacher let the bulls out!" - which I think we sang each and every year.

The friends who are teachers tell me that by the fifth year they feel totally accomplished at their job (no matter which age bracket they teach). I think you're doing a great job - but for now enjoy the summer months:)

I am sure that you are the best teacher!!!! I love that ¡feeling of accomplishment, of a job well done... it just fills your soul and makes you thirsty for more! TO me the end of the school year is a little nostalgic, you are moving on, leaving things you love behind and anxious for new things to come! Enjoy your summer and enjoy a job well done!

That is a huge class! Do you have another teacher working with you? My son's 5 grade class was large like that, but then the class had to teachers. Most of the classrooms here in Georgia max out at 22 students. Have a fun summer!
