Song-osity: July 4th

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air...
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there...
O' say does that star spangled banner yet wave.
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Another July 4th in the books. And this year, no hurricane to rain on our parade!

I find the perfect way to celebrate the 4th is to be insanely lazy and relaxed most of the day, then kick the grilling and eating into high gear before going to watch the fireworks. And that is what I did this year!

A very lazy morning with patriotic pancakes, relaxing and hanging out, then friends came over and we grilled out, before heading to Sarah's mom's high rise with a view of downtown and the fireworks.

As night fell, and we waited for the show to start we saw the most amazing red moon rise! It was amazing and may have been as awesome to watch as the pyrotechnics yet to come.

And they were pretty impressive! An amazing combination of color, shape, size. Even USA spelled out in fireworks! I personally love the sparkly ones that linger as they go out and the big huge circles. This year, I saw it all.

Another great fourth. Happy birthday America!

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism." Erma Bombeck
