New Bedford Half

Half marathon number 3 was Sunday.
A lot of training programs recommend a half marathon as you near your full marathon as a way to get a good race simulation - so I entered the New Bedford Half.
I had no goals but to have a good race and feel good and was excited to run a new race.
Winter was hanging on for dear life on race day.
We had gorgeous blue skies (my first sunny and dry half!) but the temps were about 15 with the windchill and there was a biting wind.
I saw some friends on the course and around the race activities. Always fun to see a friendly face! The crowds along the course were great too. Some great posters and lots of energy; always helps you out energy wise!
In the end I had the race of my life! Shaved SEVEN minutes off my half time from October. I looked at my watch around mile 6 and saw that a PR was indeed possible but vowed to just keep running my pace (which didn't feel too fast or forced). At mile 9, along the gorgeous waterfront, the headwind became fierce. I kept plowing forward, even covered my watch to not get in my head. At 12.5 I checked and was still very on pace to make that PR and I let loose sprinting to the finish.
A time of 2:03:33. Um. WOW! So worth it. I firmly believe that I will break the 2:00 half marathon one day!!

But, next up! The BAA 5k and THE BOSTON MARATHON!!!!!
