I hadn't been to the Brooklyn Museum in ages so when we were over in Prospect Park over the weekend we made sure to go visit. There were two amazing featured exhibits and we enjoyed pieces from the permanent collection, too.
The main exhibit had just opened the day before we visited. It is a collection of pieces from Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats' Dean Collection. It spotlights works by Black diasporic artists, part of the museum's ongoing efforts to expand the art-historical narrative. The other is a collection of silk prints showcasing 19th century Tokyo -- they were just stunning!
The museum has a really cool edgy feel to it, the exhibits always meld classic and modern and are often powerfully curated to be a reflection of society. I highly recommend if ever in Brooklyn!
Beautiful arts displayed everywhere

ReplyDeleteThis has never been on my list (besides the OY sign) but it looks pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI would love that blend of classic and modern in the same museum. Variety is good! :)

ReplyDeleteI like art museums that blend a little bit of everything!
ReplyDeleteWOW, so many items and stuff to view in the museum. We are not the museum type but I enjoy seeing it through your lens.
