Purim!

Happy (belated) Purim! Purim is really a fun holiday, one where we can be festive and celebrate, and not be too somber, Plus, getting to celebrate it at school/work is extra filling in the hamantashen. 

Friday, we celebrated at school, since Purim itself was Sunday this year. We started the day with a whole school t'fillah and read excerpts from the megillah. The Hebrew department put on a lovely rendition of Swan Lake and the rest of the day we simply celebrated! The kids had great costumes and it is just a fun day to "let our hair down" and revel in the happiness. 

Of course, I couldn't let a Purim season go by without making a batch of hamantashen. I have such fond memories from making them as a kid and well, it's still fun at 26. 

My minyan was having an "Iron Chef Hamantashen" so I had high stakes - to prove gluten free can be tasty! I made strawberry, apricot, and raspberry ones. I thought they tasted pretty darn good...and apparently others thought so too, because I tied for first place with friends of mine who made regular gluten-filled hamantashen! Go team gluten-free!!

Saturday night, there was a great megillah reading and shpeil (funny play) at shul. And of course lots of noshing on hamantashen (-: 

Sunday, actual Purim day, I went to Morry and Rachel's for a Purim feast, one of the laws of Purim. Lots of eating was done and Morry did a hilarious PPT (pixelated purim torah) presentation which was a hilarious explanation of the holiday - lots of laughing - the main goal of the holiday! 

And now - the countdown to Pesach...(too soon?)
