I hadn't been to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in years and enjoyed some time there on Sunday.
Such a retreat from the city outside. You really do feel as though you've been transported from Boston to a Venetian palace.
I think my favorite part of the space is the contrast between the light and airy courtyard and the dark galleries that surround it. You wonder from room to room, taking in the art, with hints of lushness and light peeking in from the center.
Amazing to know one woman is responsible for bringing this to our fair city so many years ago.

What a place! I would love to be able to stay somewhere like that. I wouldn't mind spending my whole weekend indoors if it was there!

ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to live in a big city with a lot to see and do. This looks like a great museum. Loved the statues although the headless one was a bit strange.
