New York, lookin' down on Central Park
New York, like a scene from all those movies...
New York, like a scene from all those movies...
But you're real enough to me, but there's a heart
A heart that lives in New York...
{A Heart In New York - Simon and Garfunkel}
Mom and my Thanksgiving Day tradition is to go into NYC, pick a neighborhood, and wander and explore.
This year we decided to really explore Central Park. Sure we've been there loads of times before, but usually a quick stroll across town, or just popping into one specific part.
This time we entered up by the MET, and headed across and south. We saw the Belvedere Castle, explore the paths in the Rambles, paused at Strawberry Fields, went to iconic Bethesda Terrace, wondered the Great Mall, and wound up at Columbus Circle.
It is just so amazing how the park is an oasis in the midst of the city. The Rambles could be any hiking path in the mountains. Patches of rock dot the walking paths. But then you catch a glimpse of the skyline or see a taxi whizz by on one of the transverses and remember you're in the heart of the Big Apple!
All in all, a great day in NYC!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the park in the fall! So funny- I was just there a few days before Thanksgiving and posted my horse and buggy ride shots and the park.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of Central Park! I was in NYC the weekend before and had fully planned on visiting but it was so cold! I'm from the south, so the 50-degree weather + wind was freezing! We ended up exploring museums instead. I'm glad I got to see the park at this time of year through your eyes! :)
