I finally made it to Little Island! The human-made island floating in the Hudson River in the Chelsea neighborhood opened last spring and I finally got myself down there. It is a gorgeous and ingenious park. The park rests on 123 concrete "tulips" and is a series of green spaces, snaking path, lookout points, plus an ampetheater and other open spaces filled with interactive bits.
It was such a fun space to explore. There were musical floor panels, spinning chairs, rocky ledges to climb and relax on, and perfect city views from all angles. I just adore how the city keeps creating green spaces like this. Just one pier to the south is where the first city beach will be built, how cool is that!
Seems as if your area has an endless supply of amazing sites!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Tamar, this is so cool! I think it is wonderful that the city is creating and maintaining more green spaces as well. What an ingenious idea to build this relaxing island haven in the middle of the Hudson!
