No trip to DC is complete without a tour of the monuments and some time riding the Metro. I lucked out with a perfect weather day on Saturday to walk from the Lincoln Memorial down to the Washington Monument; hot but not humid, a super rare event in late July in DC! The monuments are always such a treat and powerful reminders of our nation's history.
Despite it's flaws, I actually like the metro! When it's running smoothly you can get from A to B pretty efficiently and it's air conditioned, which is a huge plus in the summer. The long escalator rides in and out of the stations continue to be a mix of thrilling and intimidating, too!
...you showed DC in a wonderful light.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting Tamar!

ReplyDeleteLove those B&W shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Tamar! My kids have been asking to visit DC and we had planned it just before Covid ruined everyone’s plans! It never made it back into our planning though because I think we just forgot and visited other places. I must get a DC trip back on our list!

ReplyDeleteI remember the metro from when we visited DC when I was a kid! It was the first time this Midwestern girl had ever seen such a thing!
