Ford Foundation Atrium

I heard about the lush atrium at the Ford Foundation on Instagram and finally had a chance to check it out. It is a total hidden gem a block away from the United Nations. The garden is home to nearly 40 species of trees, vines, and shrubs. It features a reflecting pool and a reverberating fountain that fills the space with a tranquil sound, a welcomed reprieve from the NYC noise outside.
The garden sits beneath office windows and I was envious of the folks who get to work with that view each day! The garden was also designed to be an inclusive space. It features a sensory section that enables people who are blind or with low vision to touch and interact with the plants and includes braille signage and audio interpretation.

  1. it's amazing to have a kind of tropical greenhouse in the atrium of a building. But it's certainly a beautiful effect

  5. oh my goodness this is lovely. It reminds me a little of the atrium at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, and Singapore airport. What a lovely space to escape the city. Enjoy the rest of your week, stay safe, and thankyou again for the linkup.
