NY was hit very hard by the Canadian wildfire smoke this week. By Wednesday, we had the worst air quality in the world and it looked like the apocalypse was upon us. Thank Gd, by Friday we were in the healthy zones again but man it was a bit crazy!
The Random:
I chaperoned a field trip into the city with the 4th graders. Of course, the one moment the bus of 10-year-olds looked up from their activities was while we were stopped next to the Museum of Sex. One kid went "Ms. Benjamin...who gets to go on a field trip there?"
The Fun:
I phoned a friend and asked Jeremy Reiner, a meteorologist from Boston to Zoom with one of my grades to wrap up their weather unit. It was fun to reconnect and have him share his knowledge with the kids!
We had a similar sky in Sydney a few years ago during dust storms from the Outback.
ReplyDelete...our crazy skies have finally cleared.
ReplyDeleteThat smoke was so crazy.
ReplyDeleteThat smoke is terrible but great shot with the yellow umbrella. What was your answer? I once had to explain Table Top[ Dancers to someone else's kid while we were stopped in traffic outside the front of a pub advertising it. So it was a very cautious explanation...the kid responded with "I imagine sometimes you just want to talk to your friends without someone dancing on your table" Hehehe

ReplyDeleteUgh! We've been through a couple summers of that kind of wildfire smoke here in Calif. It's no fun at all and glad to hear it's better for you now. Super cool about the the visit for your class from the meteorologist.
Lovely summery inspiration, thanks for hosting!
