Flower Atlas

The Winter Garden Atrium has another beautiful exhibit! The installation comes to life through 72 chiffon banners suspended garden. The work is the brainchild of artist, Miya Ando. She uses the banners to reimagine a year through flowers depicting the 72 seasons of the nature-based ancient Japanese system of time-telling.
Each banner corresponds to one of 72 phenological seasons as defined by the Japanese Kõ calendar – a traditional, observation-based calendar. Soaring above visitors, the banners create a moveable calendar for the eyes. There are also monitors on the side of the atrium that share more about the flowers and seasons the banners represent. A truly beautiful way to wrap up the summer season at Brookfield Place.
