Have summer vacation? Will read.

I'm a reader. Not a finish a book in a week reader (well, ok, depends on the book), but I love reading and look forward to my nightly "read before falling asleep" time.

I have a ton of books on my "to read" list right now and have decided to set myself a little literary challenge. I chose 9 books off my list and want to try to read them all before September. I figure it's about 3 books a month, which is totally doable, I think...

So here's my list, in no particular order:

We'll see how I do. If I'm smart I'll match long books with shorter books each month. Some of these I can already see myself devouring and reading super quickly. Either way, I'm excited to try some new to me authors and get lost in a few good books!

Read any of these? Any good books on your summer reading list?

  1. I do the same thing every summer!!
I read "Room" 2 summers ago - read it in 2 days. It's hard at times because of the emotion involved, but it is really worth working through them to get to the end!
I'll have to check out some of the other's on your list.

  3. I love summer reading! These titles are new to me. It's been awhile since I have had a moment to think of reading for pleasure to myself. You'll have to give us book reports, so well know if we should read a title, too!

  4. Oh, I used to love to read but the Lyme disease has damaged my brain, ST memory and ability to focus. I'm just reading my daughters chapter books but enjoying them. Enjoy your pics!

  5. Oh how fun- I miss curling up in my chair & reading. I have to find some quiet time to do that. I have a very large stack of books waiting for my attention. It's starting to dwarf the finished stack.

  6. Wow...these all look like they could be great reads. I am reading The Paris Wife at this time. Have you read it? It is about Ernests Hemingways first wife....I am enjoying it very much.

  8. Looks like a great list! I need to do more pleasure reading. All I read lately are photography books, which I enjoy, but my brain needs a break ;)

  10. Tamar,
I have not read any of these. I hope you let us know which ones are your favorite.

I am half way through "The Thorn Birds." "Gone With the Wind" is also on my radar.

  11. One of my favorite things to do in the summertime, reading on the screen porch. In fact I went to a Random House Rep Night at my local independent book store last night where they review and tell us all about the latest publications from Random House. And I won a book, Paris, by Edward Rutherford. A big generations span book, perfect for the summer.

  12. good for you - I used to be an AVID reader! I gobbled up books. Now, not so much, I'm reading Omnibus, and Science instead!
