Where at least I know I'm free...
Who gave that right to me...
{God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood}
I ran my 4th half marathon on Sunday.
Last year I ran the Run to Remember 5 miler, but went for the whole 13.1 this year. 6 weeks after the Boston Marathon. On little training. And I ROCKED it!!
It was such a fun day. Tons of fellow Heartbreakers ran and having teammates around makes race day that much more awesome because we can pump each other up and enjoy the fun together.
Robin and I ran 9 of the 13 miles together. She kept me at a steady pace and I kept her a bit faster than usual. win win! My Heartbreak friend Adrienne got the most hilarious action shot of me ever. I got a huge hug from her and a hug from her dog, Fred too. It was super great to watch fellow Heartbreakers on their run back in - giving high fives and feeling the positive vibes, too.
Also, as always, being able to thank the service members who are blocking the roads makes this race so meaningful. On Memorial Drive there is a line of police officers who line up for high fives, it's powerful to thank them for their service and to hear them thank us back!
I finished in 2:10:19. Not my PR but my second fastest half, 6 weeks after a marathon, and on minimal training since! Best part of it all, consistent splits and a great day. Oh, and the Kane's Donut at the end!
Of course a major thank you to my pit crew/photographer, my momma. Races wouldn't be the same without you!!
