Rockefeller Center was transformed into a “Pool Party” last month featuring the art of Joel Mesler. The refreshing oasis was an immersive install and part of Rockefeller Center’s Summer at The Rink. There was a “pool” surrounded by turf grass, and filled with pool noodle sculptures and beach balls. The summery pop-up is inspired by Mesler’s memories of his childhood pool parties and he hopes to bring all visitors back to the simple whimsy of summertime bliss.
I happened to get there mega early before the throngs of tourists arrived. It had also monsooned that morning so the "pool" was actually filled with puddles and standing water which added to the whole motif!
The Rockefeller centre looks great
