Under the Sea

Down here the fish are happy
As off through the waves they roll
Under the sea...
Under the sea
Darling it's better down where it's wetter
Take it from me...

{Under the Sea - The Little Mermaid}

We spent some time at the Bermuda Aquarium and out on a glass bottom boat this trip.
The aquarium had some lovely local fish of all colors and varieties. They live in the amazing coral reefs that surround the island and keep the waters calm and peaceful.

The boat trip took us out into the reefs to see fish up close. On the way we piloted into a cove and saw so many turtles swimming about!

The Bermuda reefs are different then those in the Carribean or near Australia, mainly due to the fact that the water temp can reach 50F in the winter. It's also very very protected and largely in good shape.

The extensive reef is infamous for causing many a shipwreck in the pre-sonar days. Our hotel has one right off the beach, but we got up close and personal with a wreck jutting out of the water on the eastern coast, so cool!
