I finally explored the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum! It's up on 5th Avenue at the top end of the Museum Mile. The museum is now in the old Carnegie Mansion and was founded to be a center for art and design in the city. The building is stunning with much of the original ornate guiled age architecture still there. The website even has the blueprints from when it was the Carnegie home!
We saw some really neat pieces. There was one exhibit on the way medicine has evolved, often due to mass events like covid or other viruses, a whole botanical-inspired collection, and a whole space on designing peace. It's a great NY gem!
Fascinating place! Both the building and the exhibit.
