I found another hidden gem on the East Side. Greenacre Park is on 51st St off of 3rd Ave and features a 25-foot waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and in the shadow of the neighboring buildings. It's so gorgeous in there! You can hear the rush of the waterfall as you walk down the block and then you turn into the little park and the city melts away!
There whole plan was so thought out: water flows from the fountain at the entry stairs down the side wall and joins in the waterfall, there are tables and chairs on three levels, and there is a little cafe. It is a true urban oasis - I was there around 2:30 in the afternoon and the place was filled with folks on lunch breaks or just enjoying a reprieve from the concrete jungle. I'm sort of envious of the people who live and work in the area who get to go there all the time!
...what a fabulous oasis.
