There is another amazing art installation in the Garment District. “Echoes – A Voice from Unchartered Waters,” by Mathias Gmachl, is a 55-foot-long interactive sound and light installation that aims to have us city folk notice the nature and the environment surrounding us.
Through the whale, Gmachl hopes get people to think about the climate crisis. If you listen closely you can hear the underwater sounds but so easily the din of nearby Times Square overpowers it. I saw the whale just days after the insane rains and flooding we had. Even in this corner of America climate change is here and we must act!
What a beautiful whale in the middle of the city
ReplyDeleteI am reading Living Life in Five Senses which is about employing our senses purposefully in our daily lives. The author, Gretchen Rubin, lives in NYC. This seems like something she would have put in her book.
