I was in need of some time with nature last weekend. I took a nice long walk to Harvard's arboretum (it's in a section of Boston on this side of the river) and explored this gorgeous stretch of nature.
When I first entered the grounds, all I saw was brown, lots and lots of brown. But as I wandered about, I began to see signs that spring may be on the horizon; signs that there is something brewing in these limbs.
After a long, cold (still...cold because, who am I kidding it was 37 degrees) winter, nature is starting to wake up.
Branches and limbs are stretching themselves towards the warmer sun...
Moss regrowing, fueled by a very moist winter.
It's amazing, when I walked into the arboretum everything just appeared so dreary and brown. By the time I left, the grass looked greener and I felt a renewed hope that soon the trees and plants will be in full colorful bloom.
Happy spring...may this season be colorful and bright!
*of course, since I took this lovely walk, it snowed 9 more inches and 3 more are coming tonight!

I think photography helps us to search for the beauty around us. Well done! Also, enjoy the snow. We haven't had one flake in this part of the country this year. I would like to see just one! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the little preview. No signs of spring for me yet. Hopefully soon. Anothe 10 inches on Tuesday didn't help. We are totally owed an awesome summer.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask...what are the ladder looking ropes holding the plants...they looked pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI love your discoveries! The little signs of spring are so encouraging to the soul.
ReplyDeleteI love walks like these. I agree with what Brea said above about how photography helps us "see" more of the beauty of ordinary things around us. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so true! You really have to work at it...but those signs are everywhere!! Fingers crossed that the snow doesn't slow things down too much!
ReplyDeletewe know that spring comes, we usually want it faster than it is..nice that it was decent enough to take a walk.
ReplyDeleteWonderful framing! I like this composition! Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to go on a nature walk and actually see some color. Lovely, lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to visit! And you captured it so well! Hoping spring comes soon for you (and me)! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! I am sure it will look completely different in just a months time! I am over this snow and am hoping what is coming on Monday will be the last of it! Come on Spring!!
