P52: Week 22 around the sun

Enter June?!?! Wow, how did that happen!

Mom was here with me until Monday afternoon and we had such fun together. We froze while we thoroughly enjoyed the thrilling Sox game on Monday! I'm still dreaming about it!

This was a busy week! The kids took their ERBs this week, so it was a strange week. Them sitting at desks all morning, taking a standardized test is a far cry from our usual routine! They did enjoy the extra recess and no homework through! I enjoyed being able to use all the quiet to do some work and write report cards. I also wrote the latest article for the school's education blog! I'm pretty excited about how it turned out, you can read it: here!

The kids also wrote skits and made puppets to show all they learned in their social skills curriculum! Come back tomorrow to see more of their amazing work!!

I guess it was a busier week than I thought when one of our assistant heads of school and I were standing in the office on Friday going, "wow, what a week, was this a full week?" We had totally forgotten Monday we were off for Memorial Day! Now it's just 11.5 days to go, I honestly cannot believe it.

For fun, I've taken up sewing. I have been able to do simple projects, but took it up a notch this week too. I made some burp clothes for a friend's new baby and then managed to make a keychain for my keys! So easy and neither I nor the sewing machine were hurt in the process!

Highlight of the week: Running a new personal best time outside, with hills! Not quite my treadmill time, but there are no red lights on a treadmill (or hills)!

Favorite teaching moment: I went to pick up the kids from gym a little early, and ended up playing the game with them. So much fun to feel like a kid again!

Random-osity: I followed, on twitter, one of the radio djs I listen to each morning. I was floored when he followed me back!
Also! I'm working on growing the blog's facebook page - won't you please join me over there as well? I post a sampling of the random things around me and would love to connect there (here) too!

  3. Sounds like a GREAT week! As my boss would say...how 'bout dem sox! I always love finding a fellow fan. I got my daughter a sewing machine for her birthday last year...maybe so I could 'borrow' it...haven't done that yet, but you've got me thinking about possible projects! Have a great week!

  7. Oh Tamar I really enjoyed your article in the school blog. I was an aide last year and was baffled at the methods that we used in comparison to the methods even my dd's had in their school. Those days of long tests were soooo typical in the methods when I was in school back in 800 BC. hahahaha. We hardly were allowed out of our seats that were in a row and grid system. Who thought that was the best method then? Your article was very well written. I am impressed. You are one smart cookie.

  8. The puppet show is a great idea. How fun for them to be able to show what they learned in that way. Great sewing projects too. I used to sew back in the day but alas no time.
