4th fun.

Another fun 4th in Boston! Like last year, my friends and I went down to the Esplanade for the Pop's concert rehearsal. Jenny and I went down early to stake a spot on the grass in front of the video monitor. We knew security was very tight this year and wanted to give ourselves time. Well, we waltzed through security and had ample time to enjoy the evening right on the river.
Eventually, the rest of our gang arrived, we picnicked and hung out and waited for the concert to start.
The line-up wasn't as star-studded as last year, but we enjoyed the music none-the-less.
Usually, on the 3rd they don't blast the cannons during the "1812 Overture." Well, this year (and last year) they did. We all loved it, but after the Marathon, we were all shocked they told people to not expect explosions and then did it anyway... Even cooler though is at the actual concert, the officer hurt in the shootout from April came out (he's recovering well) and conducted the orchestra for a bit!!
On the actual 4th, I went with a friend to see "Despicable Me 2" - we loved it and loved the 2 hours in the a/c! Later that night I went to my co-teacher's mom's apartment for the fireworks. She lives 14 floors up and we had an amazing view of all the area fireworks!
It was a 30 minute show, down at the Esplanade. The picture doesn't do it justice, we could see them so well!!

All in all, a fantastic 4th, in America's 1st city! It really is cool to live where it all began!
