Harvard Museum

On Sunday, I went over to Cambridge to check out the Harvard Natural History Museum. I'd heard good things, and heck, it was air conditioned!

The museum is small, but has an amazing collection!
They had a huge room filled with glass flowers. Yes, these are ALL glass! I couldn't believe it, really amazing. It said some took years to make.
They had amazing preserved specimens in their original jars.
Something pretty cool about fossils and bones. Just a great look at something that was alive so, so, so long ago!
A massive triceratops head!
My favorite might have been the rocks and minerals room!
Just beyond gorgeous. Amazing to see the beauty that can lie beneath the surface of the earth.
It was a nice visit. There are some other museums at Harvard that I want to check out, no excuse not to really!

  1. Hi! That looks like a really good visit. It also reminded me of the Natural History museum in Stockholm, my home, especially those jars.
Me and my 7yo daughter went to the National Art Gallery to see the exhibition of Monet last Saturday. It was amazing and her little eyes were just lit up the whole time over all these amazing paintings they had. It was her first visit to an art gallery of that sort.

  3. well, first of all my husband went to Harvard...so I don't want to tell you how many times I've been there over the years and never knew they had this museum...or any museum...he's a lousy tour guide! LOVE the glass flowers - how amazing is that!!? It's also very cool that they allowed you to take photos!

  6. Really had to stare at the glass flowers, and I couldn't tell at all. That is amazing. I would love the rock and mineral room, too. We love geodes. Kids like to buy them, in smaller form, when we go on mountain trips. G has agate bookends on her desk, from Target, so maybe not the best quality. :)
