Head of the Charles

Nothing says "fall in New England" like a crisp October day and the Head of the Charles regatta.
Tons of rowers descend on the Charles River for a weekend of races.
I never need an excuse to be along the river and loved sitting on the banks of the Charles watching the rowers zoom by.
Having spent most weekends hearing the boats on the river in training, it was a nice change of pace to just enjoy the action rather than be jogging past!

  2. So beautiful, and really timeless. I wonder how many years, how many falls, rowers have beaten their way down the Charles.

  3. Oh wow! I've never seen such a thing (except on TV). I think that would be so fun to watch! (Based on my kayaking attempts, I think I'd have to train for years to be able to actually DO this!)

  4. I love watching crew, too. Have you ever been to boathouse row in Philly? It's beautiful when all the lights are on!

  6. I'm with you, any excuse to be near the water is ok by me. That looks like a fun thing to "watch" and I'm sure a lot of work for the rowers.

  10. What fun! I have just posted about a hotel suite with a view of the Charles river on our recent trip to Boston. This would have been great to watch from there!! I live near Henley (England) where we have a regatta every year too - it's a very dressy affair. Have a great weekend xx Maria
