Simple Pleasures

I haven't really missed South Jersey that much since we moved 4 years ago. But this weekend, the "unofficial" start to summer I was really missing the beaches of my childhood town. Something about the muggy and hot air this Memorial Day weekend made me long for the days at the beach. At one point I could almost smell the salt air and hear the crash of the waves.
Last Memorial Day weekend we went back to South Jersey for the first time since we had left. It was like old times, tons of people in town to kick off beach season, and sand between our toes.  Growing up, you were a local (not a shoobie!) if you never, never wore shoes during the summer. Not just barefoot on the beach, but walking to the beach, walking to your friend's house, I basically only wore shoes during the summer as a kid in stores and places where it was mandatory!

Nothing more simple that sand between your toes and the waves crashing behind you, welcome summer!

Hello fellow jersey girl :) I haven't visited the shore yet this season, & I can't wait! You've captured the ocean's simple beauty :D

I love the sound of waves, so soothing and dramatic at the same time! :-)

I didn't know you were a Jersey girl! I'm a one too, though you might consider me a shoobie since I'm from North Jersey! Hahaha! I didn't even know you had a name for us :)

Oh, sweet photo! Aghh, now I want to go to the beach. You're lucky to have grown up near the water. =)

We moved to Texas from Ireland and I still miss living by the sea. We leave for Cannon Beach Saturday and I can't wait to get some sand between my toes.

Lovely photo - I can almost hear those waves.
