How can 1/4 of the school year be over? I'll be honest, sometimes the past 45 days have whizzed by and on other days it feels more like 450 days. But, still, wow how has 45 days gone by!?
And I'm loving it. I love my students. I love the school I am teaching at. And I love the opportunity to work with and learn from the other educators at the school.I have taken on many teaching responsibilities. I teach math once or twice a week, I lead my reading group three times a week, and I teach phonics a few times a week. I am also planning for and leading my student's session in the Learning Center. Just writing all that out, makes me amazed at how far I've come since September!
I've sat in and participated in our students' conferences and I am a part of our weekly team consult meetings where I bring my insights and ideas to the table regarding a few of our students with special learning needs. I've even spoken up about what I have seen in a certain student and that insight has been valued! I really feel valued, even as an intern!
I really am loving me experience as an intern. To me, I know I am loving it when I don't mind (99% of the time) getting up at 5:30am. I am excited to get to school and see what the day holds for all of 1L.
I really feel like I am coming into my role as a teacher. I can't wait to see what the next 135 days of school hold for me and the class!
But, for now, bring on the 3 day weekend!

MY kids are blessed with amazing teachers this year.. and each one has a special way to deal with their unique needs. The greatest teacher in my life passed away on Monday at the age of 91...The way you write about what you are learning shows me that you are ranked up there with these great people in my live and the lives of my girls!
Never forget that one word from you may make the largest difference in a child's life (positive or negative)!
What age are your pupils?
Makes me want to teach again, looking at your words broken up.
Excellent teachers are our hope in the future...it sounds like you are well on the way to being one. How great that your first teaching experience is so positive. Enjoy your weekend.
That is so great!! I know what you mean about time - we have just had our nine week grades but it feels like we have been back forever. But then again, I took on the role of Booster Club President for the boys athletics and that alone has kept me very busy. But we have raised $10,000 already!! Whoo Hoo
My sister is a teacher and boy has she got a large workload! Keep up the good work.
Sounds like your year is going great. I always like to see young people like you find their passion and love what they are doing to fulfill that passion. Keep up the good work.
Enjoy your three day weekend. It is these small breaks that keep us going through the year. A time to catch up and recharge.
Love your attitude, Lady...and I know your students do, too!
what a great post- I was just counting with my kids today how far off from 100 day celebration we are
So good to hear you are enjoying teaching so much. Makes life wonderful when you're excited about your work.
Awesome! Teachers have sooo much impact on a child's early development! My shy, nervous 4-year-old has grown so much in 45 days, and I owe a lot of it to her teachers! Thanks for what you do!
I'm so glad you are loving being a teacher. It's so nice when you can do something you love.
Teaching is so hard but rewarding. Great job.
Oh, the tens' place and the ones' place! Just saying that makes me feel like I'm in school again. =>
I'm so excited for you- it's certainly fun teaching isn't it??!!!
Glad you enjoy your work! :)
You'll make a great teacher, Tamar! I'd love to have you as one of my kids' teachers. :)
Teaching is such an amazing profession! I'm sure it's very rewarding to see your ideas being used for the positive.
Have a great long weekend!
first of all - LOVE the name of your blog. second of all - those teaching aides are SO awesome. what a great way to teach phonics! You sound like you're in a really great school.
Before our 5th baby came along I was thinking about going back to school to get my teacher's licence. Then the economy in our community tanked and a bunch of teachers got laid off. I am so glad to hear that even in this awful time to be a teacher that there are still people willing to go through all if that for the sake of our precious kids. I'm sure you'll be an AMAZING teacher and hop you have a great year!
