Weekend with Mom

Mom came to visit for the long weekend and we had a great time together, staying warm and keeping busy.  Saturday night we went to see Hugo - it was amazing! I so recommend it! And the 3D was spectacular and I am not a 3D movie person!

On Sunday, it was so cold we axed our plans to head north to Salem and decided to stay local. We were lazy bums and then got moving and headed to the Museum of Science. I clearly have a thing for science museums - two in one month! Mom even gave me an early b-day gift and got me a membership!
The museum is awesome! I haven't been since I was a really little kid and I was like a kid in a candy shop, or science museum! The museum sits over the Charles River so even the views were stunning!
There was an eye opening exhibit about the diets of 25 people around the world. It was amazing to learn that even a diet high in calories (except the 12,300 one) but rich in natural and whole foods can be healthier than a lower calorie diet with processed food!
Of course, we had to go visit the dinos! The T-Rex was cold too, apparently.
Of course, the views were captivating every time we walked by!
31 years ago my dad took the picture on the right of my mom, when she was pregnant with Avi at the museum. I love this picture so much and we decided to "recreate" the picture, minus the 80s hair, 80s glasses, and bun in the oven. Pretty cool!
Equally cool! Is standing in two cities at once! Even cooler when the two cities usually have a river between them!
The main exhibit right now is all about Pompeii, with actual artifacts from the city!
To think that these pieces of art and furniture survived such a horrific natural disaster is remarkable!
They had casts of the people of Pompeii who didn't make it out. It was so deep to look at the preserved facial expressions and imagine what it would have been like in the moments that the volcano was erupting.

Another awesome part of the weekend was the awesome ipad case mom made for me!
And she brought up a book shelf and an antique mirror that she wasn't using anymore! Yay for hand-me-downs!
It was a really great weekend and now it's back to the real world, but only one month until February break!

If you missed it, week 2 of my project 366 is below this one or you can click the 366 button on the right side of the blog!

Looks like a fab weekend. I love the gorgeous view shots vivid with blue and pink-and light caught in the stack.
I hate science, but am thinking I would like the science museum. The Pompeii exhibit looks amazing.
My mom lives 2 miles away-a blessing and a curese, but I remember the fun when I lived 8 hours away and the Mom visits were super special.
Back to the real world is right.

What a fantastic tour, Tamar! I felt like I was there along with you and Mom (whos must be about my age!)
She looks great!

How nice of her to make the phone case for you (love it) and bring you some redecorating gifts.

Have a wonderful day! :)
