Kinnikinnick

A few weeks ago, the gluten-free company Kinnikinnick (try saying it 5 times fast, actually try saying it at all...), sent me some products to taste and review! Um, yes please! A few days later a box with goodies arrived on my door stop. The box had the cinnamon sugar donuts, the kinni-toos (faux-oreo), and two types of sandwich bread.
The donuts are really good. They are on the smaller side, but a healthy serving calorie and the like wise. They had a generous dusting of cinnamon sugar on the outside that even soaked into the donut itself some, yum! I even had some non-gluten-free friends try these and they were impressed. Which is a huge plus in my book!
I had had the glazed donuts before, and like these better.  They are the perfect texture, which is hard to achieve with gluten free baked goods.  Not too heavy and not too crumbly.  Just right. I tried them room temp and warmed in the microwave - either way a nice treat.
They also sent along two loaves of bread. Ever since going gluten free, finding the perfect loaf of bread has been a challenge. They are either rock hard or so light that they are full of holes. So I looked forward to trying the multi-grain and white breads.

Since I don't eat bread too often, I decided to make the most of my taste test and make a hybrid sandwich. I took one slice of multi-grain and one slice of white bread from the freezer and nuked it for 15 seconds - it was actually perfectly fine to eat, but I like a slight toast to my breads, so I popped it in the toaster for a few seconds before shmearing sunbutter (my latest obsession!) and strawberry jam on it.
These breads impressed me. The multi-grain bread has seeds and such in it, which I don't mind, it was a bit light for my liking, but overall impressive. The white bread could masquerade for Wonder Bread, I tell you. Light, but not too light, holds itself together and is just like I remember glutenous bread being like! Winner, winner, chicken dinner with this one!
Now, onto the cookies! I never really ate oreos before going gluten free, but I remember them to a certain extent. One of these rounds is a serving, which in my mind is perfect, one and done. And one of these surely didn't disappoint!
They are crunchy but not too hard, crumbly, but not too crumbly. (I'm really good at this adjective used to describe foods things, aren't I?) The cream was not too shabby, either.  It wasn't super fluffy like it's gluten-filled cousin, but it melted perfectly in my mouth with the cookie.

So, thank you Kinnikinnick for letting my try these goodies out! My taste-buds are enjoying the goodies, that's for sure!

All of these treats are gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free! And they're kosher, too! They also have a full line of cookies, breads, and other treats! Go-yee and enjoy!

Glad you found some tasty things you like! I'm probably the only one on the planet who doesn't care much for oreos which is precisely why it's the cookie I buy the most for my boys so I won't be tempted!

I'm afraid Deb is going to have to share her Oreo-free planet with me...not a huge fan of that cookie (probably because everyone dunks them in milk which I never drink!). But t hose donuts look pretty darn good. Glad to hear they taste as good as they appear. And how fun to be a taste tester!

looks delish? How did you know you needed to give up food with gluten in it? Is that the only thing you gave up? I'm interested because I sometimes wonder if I have food allergies.

I'm so glad you did this post because we have been talking about trying to cut the gluten out of our diets as much as possible. I will have to give all these things a try.
