Memorial

After we walked the High Line last Thursday we went a bit farther downtown to the World Trade Center. Mom and I have both wanted to see the memorial and we thought Thanksgiving was a meaningful day to do so.
The park is really so beautiful and well thought out. Young trees surround the building's footprints, a mix of nature and architecture.
Then you arrive at the memorials. The stunning waterfalls in the footprints of each tower. So striking. So powerful. So awe inspring.
The footprints look small from some angles and so massive from others. It's still hard to reconcile the memories of those mammoth towers standing there just 11 years ago.
The names etched around each tower was perfectly done. A simple yet touching reminder of those no longer here today.
The waterfalls were just amazing. The water was tranquil, yet powerful. Something so simple yet so much more.
May there memories be for a blessing.

Last time I was in NYC, I was at the WTC waiting for my friend. I haven't been back to NYC since. I can so imagine how 'tranquil, yet powerful' the waterfalls are.
