Salem is Something

Emily and I had such a fun adventure on Sunday! We drove up to Salem to walk around and take tons of pictures. The weather was perfect and we had a nice time wondering around the town. It was nice and quiet, especially since the Halloween rush is over for the year.
We spent some time in the historic district, lots of cobble stone streets, old stores, and brick facades.
There were tons of funky stores and sights. Lots of eccentric personalities walking about and some leftover sights and signs from the Halloween holiday.
Of course, in Salem, there is not a shortage of anything witch related. Some is tastefully done and some is a wee bit tacky...
We also walked around the gorgeous old neighborhood next to the historic square. We first stopped off at the Witch House. It was the house of the man who led the witch hunts in the 17th century. I love the 310 1/2 placard - reminds me of Platform 9 3/4!
Then we walked over to the Derby Wharf. I just love being out by the water and had a fun time walking out to the tip of the wharf.
I found tons of sea glass that was washing up during the hurricane and by the time I got to the lighthouse I had a pocket full!
Such a fun day! Emily and I had such a fun time walking around, taking pictures, and exploring Salem! I'm super thankful that I had the stamina to spend over 3 hours on my feet having fun, too!

Never did get to Salem when we visited OR, but hope to next time we're there. I just had a visit with a friend who just moved to Eugene, so I see myself visiting OR one of these days. :)

Your photos make me want to visit Salem -- I've been close (in Boston) but never made it to Salem. Love the idea of the sea glass!

Oh I would love to visit the "other" Salem. Witches and that part of our history was a sad time. Ignorance. I love getting sea glass too. What do you do with yours?

I love the sneakers shot the most. Salem is a very interesting place of some backward minded people.
