Purim!

Another fun Purim is in the books!
Of course I made a big batch of hamentashen (recipe tomorrow!) and I got creative for my mishloach manot this year and made two types of popcorn: sea salt chocolate and honey cinnamon.
Purim was Saturday night/Sunday this year. I love that set-up because it means a communal havdallah at shul before we read the book of Esther from the megillah. This year I was a gabbai (kind of like a spotter) for the megillah reading, which meant I was right up there with the scroll. Max came to help with this important job.
Part of the Purim fun is dressing up - the intention is to mask our true selves. It's fun to get creative and my minyan always has a great assortment of costumes each year!
I was a wild thing, ala "Where the Wild Things Are" - complete with mini-Max. My pal Ruthie was a bubble wrap princess, super adorable!
After the megillah reading we have our spiel (skit). This year it was a parody of Honey BooBoo, entitled "Esthter BooBoo" - it was a hoot!

Monday was Shushan Purim (we just keep on celebrating...) - it was a super fun day at school. We had a fun carnival and a costume parade, the kids and other staff had some awesome costumes! At the 8th graders had everyone involved in a KSA version of the "Harlem Shake" - pretty cool!
Such a fun holiday - it's fun to hang out with my shul friends - lots of brevity and noshing on hamentashen!

Sounds like a lot of fun! It would be great to see this in real life one day, who knows - I have some jewish friends in America (will tell you about one of them soon on the blog actually, you might recognize him)! :-)

The honey cinnamon popcorn sounds divine! Do you simply pour some honey and cinnamon powder and shake?
