The room is ready!

Holy moly, the kids come tomorrow! The room is pretty much ready, just the little tiny details need to get put into place today, but it's looking ready!
I'm in a new room this year, it's much larger and I am in love with the layout. Lots of space for desks and tables to work on. I love giving the kids options of places to work in the room, so this is great for that this year.
I have so many "favorite" spaces in the room, but the library may be one of them! It's huge, it's beyond organized (categories are your friend), and everything is labeled! I hope I have a class of readers this year, because I have a library waiting for them!
I have 2 white boards. 1 big one at the front of the room (with my smartboard to the left of it) and there is the smaller one by the library (which will also be where we pray each day and do some instruction). The main board has my daily schedule, some anchor charts, and my in the room/out of the room chart.

The bulletin boards are on the back wall. I am in love with my math board - lots of fun anchor charts. The ELA board will get filled tomorrow after we write about our summer breaks.
Now, some of the tiny details that make the class run like clockwork. Right when they enter the room they see the HW area. I'll post the daily HW there, their mailboxes are there, as are the bins to turn in the HW, and the crate to place lunch bags in to make that routine go smoothly.

Down the wall a bit, I have the calendar area and bins for them to place completed work, unfinished work, and fixed work (there is a reason to my madness!).

Then the supply shelf. Overly color coded? Never!
I made my schedule cards. First, because I love things being uniform, hence the font throughout the room and second because I don't need to hand write it each day. My job chart is an ipad, yes, I am a huge mac fan. I have them spend two weeks on each job, so they really get good at it before they switch to a new one (helps build responsibility). Then there are the binder covers waiting to be put into the binders on the first day! I use binders for all subjects. Papers get destroyed in folders and this helps teach them to keep things organized so they can use past papers as reference for future work!

So that's the room! I am super proud of it and I hope the kids feel ready to learn when they are in the space!

Ready or not, here school comes!!

I'm in awe of the size of your room! It looks amazing. Your class library is bigger than any I have ever seen! You are going to have the best start!

Beautiful room Tamar. You are READY! And that exclamation point tells me you are excited too. How awesome. A little tip from me (w/15 years in the education field), hanging on to that enthusiasm is hard if you give yourself away. Later it will be expected, so pace yourself. Teaching is a long journey.
I love the structure-and it will be so great for your students. They crave it-especially paired with the freedome to move around to different places to work-nice balance.
Wishing you a successful start to your year-and a big nap on Saturday when I'm sure you'll be exhausted. The 2nd week gets easier.

I have wondered why they put four desks together. Is it so that no one sits behind a student?

Tamar! That is all wonderful. I love your room! You have worked hard but that will make the load lighter as you go. Great response to my water tumblers! I love them because they fit in my car holders perfectly, they don't spill, easy to clean and you can always know how much you consumed.

Have a great school year, my friend! I am pretty sure you will. ♥
