Nickel Creek

Two of my friends are huge Nickel Creek fans. They're an acoustic/folk group who recently reunited with a new album and tour. They were in town at the House of Blues on Thursday night and we went down to hear them perform.
Thanks to some friends in high places, we found ourselves in the Foundation Room at the House of Blues. This is essentially the VIP section. It's a gorgeous lounge above the venue, with a nice bar, couches, view of Fenway Park, and is gorgeously decorated with Indian fabrics.
The three of us were beyond shocked to have found ourselves up there! Totally made the evening even more awesome.
After we explored the VIP digs we headed down to the concert floor. We wanted to stake out good spots before the opening act went on - I was taking it all in, since it was my first real concert experience!
The opening act was a group called Secret Sisters. They were an adorable and great sister duo, we all thought they had a great sound, but clearly we were waiting for the main event.
I'm a new Nickel Creek fan - for the die hard fans, this was a big night with the band back together again, so when they hit the stage people went nuts.
The set list was great, I loved hearing many of the songs for the first time and the whole vibe of the crowd was great, everyone was loving it.
A perk of having access to the VIP lounge was a quiet area to retreat to if we wanted. I took a break for a bit and was able to still hear the concert but also got to watch the Bruins and Red Sox games on some of the tv's.
I went back down just in time for the last song and then the encore. It was a great show and I was so glad I went!

also...going to do a better job at promoting my Monday link-up!

Great concert venue - or so I've been told many times by my kids! Their favorite spot to see a concert. My daughter saw John Mayer there years ago...still her all time favorite concert, I think. The guy that used to manage house of blues (before they changed ownership - 18 months ago) is now my son's boss at McGreevy's .... When my son was at the Landsdowne and the house of blues was still with the old owners, my son used to just be able to walk in the back door whenever he wanted! Crazy! Once the ownership changed, so did their relationship with Landsdowne...but it was fun while it lasted! Will have to make a point of getting in there some time!

Wow, sure sounds like you had one great time. When we lived back in New Bedford, MA we followed a group called Blues Alley. They were really good and so much fun to hear and see. I don't think they went very far except to play locally and I know they cut at least one CD. I do miss some of those nights out. Have a great week.

What fun! You have great photos here! It's hard to get good images in the dark and the band is not that close, but you did it!
