Mt. Willard and Diana's Bath

Day 2 of vacation had a nice mix of relaxing and adventure. We vegged out at the B&B, fueled up with a delicious breakfast, and then set out for a hike.

We set our sites on Mt. Willard, in the White Mountains and in an area called Crawford Notch. It was an old carriage way apparently, but I can't imagine a carriage getting up this mountain!
It was a great climb, not too steep, but challenging enough, with lots of rocks and boulders to climb over. It took an hour or so to reach the summit of Mr. Willard at around 3,000 feet.
The views were amazing. There was a massive stone outlook at the top where we just sat and hung out taking in the views. The view always makes the hard work of climbing the mountain seem like a piece of cake!

Going back down was another fun adventure and then we set off for another shorter hike that led to a set of falls called Diana's Bath. It's an amazing set of falls and pools in the lush forest. People actually go there to swim, it was gorgeous!
We didn't have swimming gear, but that didn't stop me from dipping my toes in the frigid water! It felt so great after the hike we had just finished.
It was a really fun adventurous day - I love relaxing on vacation, but also love exploring and recharging in nature and this was the perfect balance of that. Needless to say, I slept well that night!

That looks so fun! I cannot imagine a carriage on those rocky roads. A perilous journey for sure. Glad you had this little time of respite and adventure...probably more adventure than respite! :)

What a great place to hike. I think the same thing about Pioneers on the Oregon Trail... Some of the places they had to haul wagons through look down right impossible!

Oh, Diana's Bath looks wonderful.

Did you see George Bush II get the ice water dunk? He passed on the challenge to Bill Clinton for Clinton's 68th birthday. I hope he does it!

Putting these spots on my growing list...I really do think hiking and climbing are going to turn into "my thing" - still some lbs to drop and some physical work to go - but it's nice to have a vision for something I'd like to enjoy long term!

Oh that sounds like such a wonderful time! It definitely looks as though the view was well worth the hike, and I would have dipped my toes in that water as well.

Sounds like a great trip. Loved the views and Diana's bath. You seem to be having lots of fun there. I bet that water was cold though.
