Stuff my third graders say v. 3

**bringing this back. 41 students provide excellent, adorable material!**

kid: is my "s" in cursive good?
me: it's amazing!
kid: "my precious" (in gollum voice)

me: use the suffix --ish to make a word
kid: (with accent) i'm british, 'ello mate!

me: sun, the sun is a ball of fire
kid: the sun isn't a ball of fire, it's a ball of gas
me: get you tzitzit out of your mouth
kid: but i need to floss my teeth
me: let's try that again, do not floss with your tzitzit

kid 1: dinosaurs were born!
kid 2: NO they hatched!!!
kid 1: that's being born, just from an egg!!

kid: when i'm a parent, I'm going to do my kids' homework so they can play video games!
me: but how will they learn and be able to get jobs one day if you do their work?
kid: hmm, I'll play video games and they will do homework!

kid (from Israel): it's so sunny, but SO cold!!
kid 1: ms. benjamin? we can't get up...
me: why not?
kid 2: we tied our tzitzit together...
me: why would you do that?
kid 1: to see if we could tie them together and then untie them without you knowing
kid 2: we failed...
kid 1: but! only on the second part!

me: who can think of another word that fits the /tch/ rule?
kid: I know a bad word!
me: who knows an appropriate word!?

kid: SACRAMENTO!!
me: context?
kid: just because?
kid: ms. benjamin? those shoes are a poor choice for a rainy day
me: third grader by day, fashion critic by recess?
kid: if you say so!

kid: do you think physical combustion is harmful?

kid 1: you live so close to school, you could come at 7 am!
kid 2: my parents won't let me...
kid 1: but you want to come to school early, that's a good thing!

kid: ms. benjamin, my eyes changed color! I was born with brown eyes, and then one day I got pink eye, but then they went back to brown!

Hey, there's another early bird! It's 6:30 isn now, LOL. Good morning Tamar, I love learning what the kids say. Years ago there was a program "The Art Linkletter Show" that had a section called "Kids Say the Darnest Things". Sounds like you could write a book too.

Nothing better. ... or more honest than kids sayings. So good to put some of these sayings in to words to keep them for posterity, and who knows, maybe a book later.

Hilarious! You must be tired when you come home keeping up with their wacky and wooly ideas and ways of thinking!

Man, times have changed. No way could a kid straddle and balance on a chair while silently reading or not.

I love those concepts that they do or work out.

Tonight I am going as something really scary! A DOCTOR! Mmmmwwwahhhhaaaaa
