The sunrise was really stunning on my drive to work on Thursday. I stopped the car as I left my block and had to take this picture!
The Random:
The school I work at now is Modern-Orthodox, so women and girls wear skirts out of modesty. It's no big deal to me and was a fun way to expand my wardrobe. However, I realized that last week I was able to wear pants for the week while I was home with mom! It actually felt funny to be in pants so much and then felt good to put the skirts back on this week!
The Fun:
On Thursday, the third grade had an amazing morning. They participated in an Oil Factory in preparation for Chanukah. They pressed the oil from olives and then actually lit it in a menorah! It was amazing and the kids had a blast.

Skirts are fun!
lovely sunset!!
The sunrises (when I have been up early enough to witness them) have been gorgeous lately! That Oil Factory is cool! I love wearing skirts but hardly ever do. Glad you got to spend time with your mom!
Isn't it funny how we grow so accustom to little things that we don't give a second thought about, such as routinely wearing dresses or (ahem, maybe) yoga pants. Gorgeous sunrise and I continue to be in awe of the creativity you show in your education of young students. (and some of us older students of life and culture).
I spent so many years in corporate settings that I still miss being able to put on a suit and dress up. The sunrise was very pretty. What a fabulous education in ethnic differences for the kids. They probably know more than I do about this event, for sure! Good job.
Oh my - I wear denim every single day - I don't know how I could cope without my jeans. That would definitely be a fashion challenge for me. Looks like a good week!!
an oil factory sounds cool!
isn´tit funny how we get accostumed to things so quickly!=!=! who would have said you would have missed wearing skirts?
Getting ready for Christmas is making me late to comment on your blog post. I always look forward to seeing what you are up to.
That is so awesome that the kids got to participate in the oil factory project! Love it.
I'm with Gina - jeans almost every day! Even 'dressing up' for me is nice pants! I love the factory - there's always an amazement factor (at any age) in seeing where something we 'take for granted' comes from! Happy Monday!
I don't know if I could handle wearing just skirts. I love my sweat pants.. sometimes a little too much. ;)
I remember years ago I would wear dresses, skirts and suits to work every single day, then the "casual dress" came and so long went all those "good" clothes. I still believe I have some hanging in my closet!! Happy Monday!
Beautiful sunrise :)
Hmm, I love skirts and dresses once in a while --they're fun! --but I don't think I can wear them to work every day.
That sunrise is golden!
What fun activities for the kids!! The sunrises and sunsets have been pretty amazing!
Such a nice glimpse into your daily life. It sounds like you had a lovely week.
That sunrise is beautiful! And I love that kids not only pressed their own oil but were able to light it. That is wonderful.
I wear skirts to school a lot too. Its not required in the public school, but it makes me feel more professional and helps me look set apart as the teacher - especially since my kids are older and many of them are taller than me!
Beautiful sunrise ad the pressing of the oil sounds like a fun away to learn.
I don't mind wearing a skirt but I can't stand wearing pantyhose!
I love the adventures you go on with your students. I think you would be the best kind of teacher in the world.
