An afternoon at the MFA

Mom and Dale were in town over the weekend for a conference and to get out of the frigid temps, and to let Dale see some of Boston, we headed over to the MFA for an afternoon of "cultah."
Art museums fascinate me. There is always something to see and discover. Every corridor holds artwork that you either have never stumbled upon, or haven't seen from that angle, or just haven't seen in a few visits.

This particular visit led me to some old favorites, like the Degas sculpture. It led me to some new discoveries, like the canvas covered with fire hoses. It led me down hallways I had never walked through, and it led me to familiar galleries within the museum.

This visit, I also enjoyed watching others take in the museum. Some people stopped at one piece, while others walked right by it. Some stood for several moments, pondering a piece, while others glanced at it and moved on.

And to think, in our 2 hours at the MFA, we maybe only saw a 1/3 of the amazing collection. Guess that means another visit is in store soon!

Love the textures and shapes...but what else would you expect from an art museum!?

Tamar, I liked your thought on people walking by or stopping. Art is always in the eye of the beholder. Love the art museums!

I love museums. You lasted longer than I usually do. I find that after an hour, my brain is full to overflowing and my feet hurt! A break is in order or a trip on another day. Great place to people watch, too!

You really captured a visit to an art museum so well! I love museums but get overwhelmed after too long. I like multiple visits if I can. They never get old!!

Who doesn't like Degas? I also like the rotunda and the b & w glass things. Glad you had a good time.

I love museums too and just don't make the effort to get to one as often as I should. And people watching is a part of it too. I love to see what others take notice of and what they walk right by.

An entertaining way to spend a day - I too am fascinated with what catches the attention versus items that barely garner a glance. Love the dancer statue.
