Skating and Sushi

Noam decided he wanted to go ice skating for our special day together. Last time we tried this, last year, he was less then thrilled once we got onto the ice. He said he was going to be brave this time, so off we went!
While he was a bit anxious once we put skate to ice, he did so well! He slowly warmed up to being on the ice and tried to skate on his own, rather than me pulling him along. He "got even braver" post snack break and we made it off the wall! After an hour he was done, but very proud of himself. This year, fewer tears, next year - a single axel...?

After the skating date, we were off for sushi! This time, I upped the ante with sushi at Whole Foods which is served on a conveyer belt. He was beside himself with excitement, "what the what, we're catching sushi on a conveyer belt!"
To add to the excitement, since it was Mardi Gras, we ate while a band marched around the store playing, Noam thought that was the coolest. Add to that he saw Abe Lincoln on a magazine and I bought him gummies, he had a blast!!

I love this special one on one time with my favorite four year old, I can't get over how grown up he suddenly is!

Song-osity: A day with Roo

I, I did it all I owned every second that this world could give...
I saw so many places the things that I did...
Yeah...I swear I lived...

Ronan and I had a wonderful "Mar Mar and Roo" day before I left Portland: a day at the zoo! It's been a tradition since Noam was this age to go to the zoo, now I started the tradition with Ronan.

He clutched our tickets as we made our way along the paths. Every time he saw a duck he would quack, when were at the petting zoo he learned that goats go "bahhhhh," and the cutest bit might have been when we got to the cheetahs. His reaction was as great as Noam's two years ago - an O'Glasser favorite for sure.

He walked the majority of the zoo, pointing out the animals, rocks, and water he saw all along the way. He loved every moment of it, jumping, clapping, babbling all the way through the zoo. And I loved every moment of it, right along side him!

Ronan's joy and enthusiasm is just beyond contagious and it was the first of many, many special days together, for sure.

The Good. The Random. The Fun. v. 2.8

The Good:
Avi and Ben have a juicer that we pulled out to experiment with. Noam loved making juice from a variety of fruits and carrots ("vegetables don't make juice!") and then he had fun mixing his own juice flavor. We all enjoyed the experiment, although agreed honeydew juice is weird!

The Random:
Yes, more carpet! As I left Portland, I was able to see some of the new carpet. Naturally, I took another selfie. Going to miss the old classic carpet.
*i promise no more talk of carpet next week!

The Fun:
Just some fun shots of the kiddos. Seriously, these two are beyond hilarious!
little shopper...playtime..."mar mar it's Boston!"
a very hungry Roo...brothers running...sliding
it's a gnome...book worm...mini-book worm

Scav Hunt Sunday: Oregon Edition

Makes me happy:
Hearing Ronan giggle makes me so happy!

Hidden:
We went on a "treasure hunt" in the village on President's Day. Noam was in charge of the map and helped us find all the hidden treasures along the way.

One:
This little guy is the adorable and energetic definition of a one year old!

Modern:
Such modern children, watching a Reading Rainbow book, on an iphone.

Desert:
Portland needs to export these to Boston! They made my oatmeal taste more like desert than breakfast!

Enjoying the Green!

Sunday morning we took advantage of a gorgeous February day in Portland and went on a short hike. It was so good to be outside, in the woods, sans jacket. Noam was loving exploring nature and was a hoot with his walking sticks. Ronan, just enjoyed being along for the ride.
And seriously, who let him grow? 21 months old and 4 years old. Love this kid!

Who would have thought that a vacation to PDX in February would have felt like a tropical getaway, but it was delightful to soak up the sun and green sites!

Song-osity: Baking with Love

Oh baby, we found love right were we are...
And we found love right where we are...

Spent Valentine's Day with my two little Valentines. While Ronan napped, Noam and I made some heart shaped cookies, complete with red sprinkles.

It was such a simple, sweet aunt and nephew activity. Noam was so excited to be making the cookies and was so excited when they came out of the oven. I had so much fun watching him make and decorate the cookies, largely on his own and just couldn't believe how big he has gotten!

Ronan joined in the cookie eating fun once he woke up and while they munched, I reflected on how much I love these two little goobers. Two of the sweetest loves in my life, and I got to spend the day with them!
