Random-osity: Native American Museum

Last week, my third graders hosted a Native American museum highlighting everything they had learned during our big unit.

Each section was divided into 4 groups, each group researching a tribal group. They learned to take notes while they studied their tribe's food, shelter, culture, and more. Each child then chose a topic to learn more about relating to their tribe. They took more notes and did more research and then wrote 5 paragraph reports (I didn't do that in 3rd grade!).

They made posters to share their learning and highlight what they studies about their tribe. Can we say impressive? Each group worked so hard to best present their learning and information.

At home, each child created an artifact that connected to their individual research topic. We had Chief Joseph's headdress, a lacrosse stick, a sweat lodge, bows and arrows, moccasins, a Pueblo house, wolf hat, Iroquois historical timeline, a buffalo hunt, and many, many more!

Then they played docents and took their parents, and each other, around the museum. Sharing their learning and beaming, so proud of their hard work.

I am so proud of these kiddos. They learned SO much and did so well sharing their hard work with their families.
