Nokahik

As part of our Native Pathways experience we made a corn cake called a nokahik. The kids helped mix the batter and then we sat around the fire while it cooked.
We mixed corn meal, some oil, some water, some maple syrup, and craisins together to make a thick-ish batter.
We cooked it on a very hot stone that had been in the fire, you could use a griddle though.

The kids loved the little treat and we love how accommodating the farm was in helping us follow kashrut guidelines so we could make it!

And! Come link up and join the Good.Random.Fun. each Monday, right here!

What a great funny experience!
And: it reminds me of our childhood, as we had smal colorful native Indian figures to play. My most beloved on was a squaw with a bowl, making something to eat with her hands...
Have a nice weekend

That was nice that you were able to do it and still be kosher. As you know, not every place is as accommodating. I knew I saw craisins!
